Eighth Annual May Day Auction to Support Care at Lakewood

Getaways to a Belgrade Lakes camp and an oceanfront home, and an IPad are just a few of the signature items that community members will take home from the 2018 May Day Auction to benefit Lakewood, a continuing care center on the Inland Hospital campus. This year’s auction is scheduled for Thursday, May 10 from 6-8 pm at Lakewood.

“The May Day Auction will once again feature some unique and fun items,” says John Dalton, president of Inland Hospital. “It’s fun to see everyone having a good time with the bidding, and it’s great to know that the event directly supports the care provided at Lakewood and activities that enrich the lives of its residents.”

Proceeds from the auction fund Lakewood residents’ overnight summer trips to Belfast, where they can smell the fresh breezes and see beautiful views of the Maine coast. A portion of the money raised supports the newly-established Residents Activity Endowment Fund and other needs at Lakewood.

The energetic Marie Cormier will once again serve as auctioneer. Marie and her daughter Karen delight the crowd each year with humorous songs about their New Brunswick homeland, funny jokes and stories about their past. Marie eagerly lends her talent to the May Day Auction because she is passionate about Lakewood and inspired by the care provided by the staff.

“I am so impressed with the way they run Lakewood,” she says. “It’s the caring, and the subtle, gentle way they treat people.”
There is no charge to attend the May Day Auction. For more information, please call Inland Hospital Foundation at 861-3377.
